"...not trends, but timeless ideals"
What inspires Selva is the love of beauty.

This love motivates Selva to keep striving towards an ever higher level of perfection.

Selva isn't driven by the tendencies of time, but by timeless ideals.

And by customers, for whom the individual Selva-pieces are the expression of their extraordinary way of life.

People aware that the true values in life are timeless.

Timeless as the different production lines of Selva. With constant new achievements and ideas. Up to the smallest detail. Each piece of Selva furniture is the fine work of traditional furniture makers.

The classical masterpieces of the different stylistic tenedencies are not just copied by Selva, but interpreted as well, and varied with a creativity that comes with the style.

Small wonder, then, that many of Selva's achievements surpass their classical model in shape and craftsmanship.

The Selva name, today, means an exclusive sense of well-being, a feeling for artistic design, a feeling for the love of craftsmanship.

And the Selva name stands for an endlessly creative interaction between tradition and innovation. Traditionally created masterpieces.

Each Selva piece of furniture, furthermore, is unique and a valuable creation. Because countless people are involved in realizing a new model for the collection: designers, craftsmen, marketing-experts and sales-experts.

From the original idea to the end result: it is the combination of Selva's artistic and intellectual know-how that has such an influence on the development, that makes each final product an unmistakable piece of Selva furniture.

For instance, one of the pinnacles of the Selva-collection owes its existence to a very special inheritance.

A sketch for a design of a wardrobe closet by a cousin of Michelangelo's, never realized before, was first produced by Selva and has now become a fascinating piece of furniture.

Of the finest hardwood. And unmistakably original, with eternal style. And with eternal value. But that goes for all Selva creations.

Following the proper preparatory work, a prototype of each innovation is presented to an international model commission.

After a detailed analysis, improvements are implemented - only then can production of a new 'Selva Classic' commence.

The best raw materials (mainly made of European and American types of wood) are the starting point for Selva's experienced furniture makers and craftsmen, for the high quallity the brand is renowned for.

Throughout the entire manufacturing process, strict quality checks take place.

The suppliers and craftsmen of Selva work according to traditional examples. Being able to craft the minutest detail by hand is very important to Selva.

This also goes for creating historical mosaics, ornaments and other accents for different style interiors from the different periods of history. They give the Selva furniture its unmistakable character.

The inlaywork of valuable veneer patterns in wood still is completely done by hand. In this process, each pattern begins as a paper stencil that is laid on a pile of differently coloured leaves of woodveneer.

The patterns are sawed out and then covered with white-hot red sand, that creates an accent on the edges of the pattern.

Then, the patterns are taken from the veneer, and individual pieces of the pattern (different colours) are carefully assembled, set, glued and pressed together, wih a smooth surface as end result.

The time-consuming sawing-out and manual veneering from 4 mm thick wood is a special technique, that Selva still masters, because it has been passed on from generation to generation by Selva's craftsmen, who regard this a family secret.

All surfaces of the piece of furniture are thoroughly sanded in a special department and prepared for finishing with high-quality lacquers in the lacquer shop.

The lacquer shop is an installation setup according to the most modern technological insights and complies with the strictest norms of the European Union (professional safety, environment, etc.).

The still mainly manual finishing of the surface is augmented in a labourfriendly manner by an accurately automated process of movements, in which the pieces of furniture undergo the 9 stages of the lacquer shop.

Finishing and applying the different layers of lacquer still happens the way it did in the past. Stain residues are wiped off by hand and cleaned, sanded with steel wool and polished off multiple times.

The 'antiquifying' of the surface is, globally speaking, unique and a well-kept secret of Selva's. The furniture then gets those traces and signs of age that are typical to antique furniture.

Having applied multiple layers of lacquer, another important step follows: applying a special coat of wax, to give the piece of furniture the particularly warm and natural aura of wood, and ensure a velvet touch.

Affixing the brass Selva-plate is the visible sign of putting up a tremendous performance in the area of quality, design and handiwork.

The modern automated warehouse, with laserguided forklifts, convinces by way of its fully programmed system of production inspection: each order that arrives at Selva is confirmed immediately with an exact delivery date and then delivered up on that date.

The protective packaging for transport can be recycled and guarantees the greatest possible safety, so that the furniture reaches its point of destination intact.

The furniture is delivered worldwide, daily, by the Selva drivers, renowned for their good reputation. On average, more than 70 trucks a week leave the 20 loading docks of the factory.
