The Paleis Hotel is established in a building with a rich history, dating back to the 17th century. Old subterranean and now closed escape tunnels still lead to the monastery and the Old Catholic hidden church, both nearby.
Writer Louis Couperus regularly stayed with his older sister and her husband, lawyer and descendant of the well-known 'Vlielander Hein' family, that inhabited the building since 1895. With their large family and host of staff, they formed the backdrop for many a book of the renowned author that is set in what is now the Paleis Hotel.
The Paleis Hotel is reminiscent of a small-scale boutique hotel such as one finds in London or Paris, with 20 most luxurious rooms renovated in a tasteful and unique manner, with beautiful classical, and very comfortable bathrooms.
The rooms have been decorated with antique furniture and fabrics in magnificent colour combinations. Most eye-catching are the exceptionally exclusive curtain fabrics.
These fabrics have been supplied by the famous Parisian house Pierre Frey, with 18th century designs, that are the foundation for the sometimes daring, but historically just and tasteful colour combinations.
Partly authentical pictures and antique furniture complement the uniquely furnished rooms of this extraordinary Design Hotel, rooms further fitted with all the luxury and comfort one can expect from a better 4 to 5 star hotel.
A sizable number of rooms is fitted with airconditioning.
Should there be those that collect beds (and there are sure to be) then the possession of a Vi-SpringExquis would be the undisputed showpiece of the entire collection. Handmade according to the finest English traditions and quality standards, of exclusively natural materials.
This is the bed that would be photographed for the auction catalogue, the bed that would be hard to value, the bed with a chapter of its own in the archive of world-class beds. It simply is the nec plus ultra in the world of bedmanufacturers.
And as for sensation: this bed offers the deep, powerful and comforting resonance of a perfectly tuned double bass. This bed embodies a devotion to the science of sleeping unsurpassed in the history of beds.
The Jensen Supreme Continental is one of the Scandinavian boxsprings that the Jensen Supreme Collection has on offer. These boxsprings have a unique pocketspring-system that considerably improves sleeping comfort.
The pocketsprings are hourglass-shaped. Because of this, one can sink deeper into the mattress, whilst the body receives more support from the firmness in the middle of the spring.
The mattress consists of five different zones, each with their own specific firmness. Soft under the shoulders, hips and feet; firm under the middle and knees.
The other rooms of the Paleis Hotel are fitted with Pullman beds.
